Dr. Mvusy


Dr. Nomvuselelo Songelwa, affectionately known as Dr. Mvusy, has a distinguished career spanning over 35 years as an accomplished author, speaker, facilitator, executive leadership expert, and life coach. Throughout her professional journey, she has played a pivotal role in shaping and guiding teams, emphasizing personal mastery and leveraging relationships to amplify impact in both personal and professional spheres.

Currently, Dr. Mvusy holds key positions, including serving as a Board member and Chairperson of the Ethics, Social and Transformation (EST) committee at World Wildlife Fund – South Africa (WWF-SA). Additionally, she contributes her expertise as a Council member, a participant in the Strategy & Operations Committee (SOC), and a member of the Remuneration and Human Resource Committee (REMCO) at the Nelson Mandela Museum. Notably, in the past three years (2019-2022), she chaired the Nelson Mandela Museum Council, showcasing her adept understanding of corporate governance and her ability to lead, influence, and engage diverse stakeholders, ranging from senior government officials and corporate executives to major donors and board members.

Beyond her local contributions, Dr. Mvusy is an esteemed member of the Council of the Institute for Integrative Conservation at William and Mary University in Virginia, USA, further highlighting her global impact.

Recipient of the Hubert Humphrey Fellowship (1999-2000) and Ford Foundation Fellowships (2003-2006), Dr. Mvusy is committed to making a lasting and sustainable impact in Africa and worldwide. Her desire to contribute to the mission of The Nature Conservancy (TNC) is driven by a genuine passion for creating positive change within its network.

In addition to her professional roles, Dr. Mvusy serves as an advisor and community coach for The Battle of Lirhwayizo Development (BOLD) project in Mbhashe Municipality, Eastern Cape—a testament to her dedication to community development and empowerment.

Career

Dr Songelwa has an illustrious career having served various industries in critical roles from middle management to executive level and has served on Boards of companies that afforded her the opportunity to appreciate the contribution of women in leadership and impacting organisations. She is a qualified coach having completed course at the University of Cape Town and Arfeen Khan University, India.

She is an active member of COMETSA, as well as an Enneagram Practitioner.
